FeuerDesign Mayon BBQ

There is something so enjoyable about cooking and eating outside, away from the screens and distractions with the added bonus of no one telling you off for dropping crumbs on the floor, however a face full of smoke and standing by the BBQ whilst your friends chill out at the table isn’t as fun.

The Mayon Table Top Grill from FeuerDesign is a smoke free BBQ that can be safely placed on the table, allowing you and your guests to all participate in the cooking. The Mayon comes in five designs, red, white/cream, yellow, anthracite and stainless steel, measuring up at 18.5cm high with a 35cm diameter it is compact, with the size it is recommended for 3-4 people.

The Mayon is reasonably lightweight for a grill of this size at 3.5kg and comes with a strong carry bag with long handles for maximum portability. The Akkubetriebenem Fan Motor is an included optional extra, this adjusted fan helps to speed up the heating process and helps get the BBQ to reach its top temperature in as little as five minutes. The coal basket is used to prevent drips of grease and reduce the smoke thanks to the ventilation system, the idea is that the heat from the basket spreads outwards onto the grill instead of using uncovered coals directly beneath the entire grill.

There are some included silicone tongs but the quality of these are not great so you may prefer to use your own. We found the BBQ easy to set up, there was a noticeable reduction in smoke which made it much more pleasant to sit around, the BBQ heated up quickly however the max temperature is lower than a traditional grill, the heat was lower on the outer edges of the grill, this can be true for regular BBQs too.

The Mayon provides a much gentler cooking style, this means you can be waiting for your food a little longer than normal, however, this can benefit some foods especially thinner cuts, veg and my personal favourite, Halloumi.

The Mayon is best suited for small gatherings, if you enjoy regular BBQs the slower cooking time might become tedious however the reduction in smoke and covered coal basket makes for a safer, cleaner cooking experience. RRP £100
