Plastic pollution is a major issue these days – Plastic straws have been banned and micro-plastics are in practically everything we eat so, anything we can do to help improve that situation is a good thing, right? Whether it be less use of one-use plastics or a more conscious approach to how we dispose of our waste and recycling, we can all do our little bit to help. But, sometimes, ease wins out and I reckon most of us have a little inkling of guilt for not doing our bit as often as we should. The Larq Bottle however, gives us a very easy way to help and benefits us at the same time!

It’s a water bottle with a filtration system. Although, this thing is far beyond any water bottle I’ve ever owned! It’s made from BPA-free stainless steel and is double-walled – effectively giving you the same sort of heat (or in this case, cold) retention as a decent thermos flask. The filter itself has two layers of filtration – activated carbon and a layer of nano zero iron that traps heavy metals. This removes all the impurities from your water and gives you a tasty filtered drink on the go while keeping it nice and cold. Each filter lasts for about 2 months or 40 gallons, whichever comes first and the filters cost about half the value of the water bottle itself. When you compare this to 40 gallons-worth of bottled water (about 300 bottles), there really is no contest.

It’s also really easy to use, you don’t even have to tip it, just flip the ‘straw’ and take a sip. Finally, if you want purification as well as filtration, there is an optional cap you can purchase to put on it so you can even take advantage of a random stream in safety when on your travels! RRP £48.95
