The Flir One Edge Pro has been designed to transform your iOS (version 15 and later) and Android (version 11 and later) device into a thermal imaging camera, allowing you to inspect areas that are out of reach, it can be clipped straight onto the device or used independently.
It uses a combination of VividIR and FLIR MSX (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) to give you a sharp thermal image from any position or angle with a natural grip. The FLIR Ignite is a cloud storage system that lets you save and share your images, a handy solution to sharing issues with your team remotely. You can directly upload, organise, edit and share images from your Wi-Fi connected FLIR camera, the data is kept safe in one place and easily accessible from any device. It offers a thermal resolution of 160 × 120 (19,200 pixels) and the battery life should last around 1.5hours with a recharge time of 60-90mins however 15mins worth of charging will give you about 40mins operating time if you are pushed for time. Its compact size of 37.5H × 35W × 149D mm makes it easy to transport and the 153g weight ensures it is comfortable to handle both on and off your device, there is a handy remote operation that works up to 5m from smart device via Wi-Fi. Its rugged body is tough enough for work sites and passes a drop test from 2m (6.56 ft), it has an object temperature range of -20°C — 120°C (–4°F — 248°F) and 0°C — 400°C (32°F — 752°F) with an accuracy of ±3°C (5.4°F) or ±5%.
The spot meter will highlight the hottest, coldest and three spot measurements with palette options of Gray (white hot), Hottest, Coldest, Iron, Contrast, Arctic, Lava and Colour Wheel, whatever is the most intuitive to you. There is a reason FLIR are leading the way when it comes to thermal imaging, the pictures are accurate and clear, the app is user friendly, unlike its predecessor it doesn’t involve a physical connection making it more versatile and increasing its durability. As anything that relies on a Wifi connection latency and drops out can be a bit of an issue, but it was never enough to ruin the overall usage. It’s still a little on the pricey side but worth it when used regularly on the worksite or for DIY enthusiasts, it will save you a lot of extra hassle and diagnostics during and after your projects.
