Le Cord was launched in 2013 as a project under Local Electronics (LE), the Stockholm-based design and research studio, during 2019 the team finished the work of setting up the infrastructure for the sourcing and production of Apple MFI certified cables with recycled raw materials.
The first recycled collection was launched in 2019 and is the world’s first and only made from recycled plastics collected from the fishing industry. Le Cord uses recycled ghost net, every year 640,000 tonnes of fishing gear is dumped into our oceans, with fishing nets being one of the most harmful bits of waste floating in the sea, these ghost nets continue to catch and kill marine life and can take up to 600 years before breaking down into micro plastic (still incredibly harmful to marine life).
Le Cord collect and reprocess these nets giving them a new life and protecting our oceans. The connector shells are created from recycled fishing net plastics and the cord braiding from 100% recycled PET bottles, even the packaging is fully recyclable. We received the 2m iPhone charge and sync cable designed for iPhone 5/5S/5C/6/6S/SE/7/8/X/XS/XR/11/11 pro/11 max, iPad mini/Air/Pro and iPod Nano/Touch, this long cable feels like a real premium product, it is strong while being flexible enough to manipulate into various positions.
Le Cord claim that their cables have been tested up to 15,000 bends so they shouldn’t peel away at the connector head like cheap cables do. The Le Cord 2m iPhone charge and sync cable does exactly what you would expect it too and with the added bonus of knowing you are supporting a recycling system that is helping to protect our oceans, in addition $1 from each purchase will be donated to Ocean Preservation Organisations.
