Budget smartwatches often promise a lot but then deliver something that feels clunky and frustrating after a week. The TOZO S8 Aura is thankfully a bit different. It keeps things simple, focuses on the features people genuinely use, and manages to feel surprisingly polished for the price.

The 1.32 inch AMOLED display panel is sharp, bright, and colourful enough to avoid that dull budget smartwatch look. The watch faces look crisp, notifications are easy to read, and the round design gives it more of a traditional watch feel on the wrist. Paired with the metal frame, it looks smarter than you might expect from a relatively affordable device.

Notifications arrive quickly, music controls are responsive, and Bluetooth calling is useful when your phone is across the room or buried in a bag. Call quality is decent enough for short conversations, especially indoors. The fitness and health tracking covers all the expected basics including heart rate, sleep, stress, blood oxygen, and step tracking, along with more than 100 sports modes. It is clearly aimed at casual fitness users rather than marathon runners obsessing over pace accuracy, but for walks, gym sessions, and general health tracking, it handles itself well. It will notify you to unusual heart data it picks up, give you reminders to move and stretch and give you insights into your stress levels.

The battery life will comfortably give you several days from a single charge, even with regular notifications and tracking switched on. There are still reminders this is a budget friendly smartwatch. The app feels functional rather than refined, and syncing occasionally takes a moment longer than expected. Still, none of it gets in the way of what the S8 Aura does best, which is offering a straightforward, stylish smartwatch experience at a price that feels refreshingly reasonable. RRP £68
