The Lypertek PurePlay Z3Pro takes a big step forward from the earlier Z3 models, adding proper noise cancelling and more advanced wireless audio without losing the straightforward controls that made the range easy to play with.
A custom tuned 10mm dynamic driver sits inside each earbud, backed by Qualcomm’s QCC3091 chipset. Support for aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless is a welcome addition, giving compatible devices the option of higher quality wireless playback. The tuning is clean and controlled, with enough weight in the bass to keep things lively without losing the midrange. Vocals remain clear giving the overall sound nicely balanced.
Hybrid active noise cancelling is included, along with an Ambient mode for situations where you still need to hear what is happening around you. The six microphones work with cVc 8.0 processing to improve voice clarity on calls, making the Z3Pro suitable for work as well as music.
It was refreshing to see proper physical buttons, no double tapping guess work, you can easily control playback, volume, calls, voice assistants and noise modes. The Lypertek app adds EQ adjustment, custom button controls, LDX audio processing and a Find Device function (ideal for me). Multipoint also lets the earbuds stay connected to two devices at once letting you quickly swap between your phone and laptop as needed.
Battery life gives you around 8.5 hours from the earbuds, with up to 36 hours available using the charging case. The USB C and Qi wireless charging are both supported, which makes topping them up straightforward.
The Z3Pro adds some modern features for an already well liked earbud range. Strong codec support, useful ANC, physical controls and flexible app settings make it a convincing option for anyone who values sound quality without wanting unnecessary gimmicks and complications. RRP £99.90
