Sharp TOKYO DAB+ All-in-one Hi-Fi System 5

If you’re looking for a tidy audio system that does plenty without fuss, the SHARP Tokyo DAB+ All-in-One Hi-Fi system makes a compelling case. It offers built-in DAB+ and FM radio (with 20 station presets for each) so you’re covered for radio listening now and in the future. The Bluetooth 5.0 streaming means you can quickly play music from your phone or tablet without wires.

There’s also a CD player that supports CD, CD-R and CD-RW plus MP3 playback, and a USB port that handles MP3 files (up to 64 GB drives) for older music collections, in fact in a world where streaming dominates CDs are actually having a bit of resurgence. If you prefer analogue input, there’s a 3.5 mm Aux-in socket and a headphone jack for private listening.

The sound quality benefits from the laminated engineered wood speaker cabinets, which help deliver a warmer, more refined tone than you’d get from simple plastic enclosures. There are nine equaliser presets to play with, and you can adjust bass and treble manually. This means you can quickly tailor the sound to the type of music you’re listening to.

In terms of size it’s fairly compact, the unit measures roughly 345 × 122 × 215 mm and weighs about 2.9kg. It fits well in a shelf or on a sideboard without dominating the room.

Of course it is not on the level of a high-end separate component stereo system. If you’re a serious audiophile you may notice limits in the bass depth or stereo separation compared to a dedicated amp and stand-alone speakers. However when you consider the price and convenience it is a solid choice. If you want a fuss-free, feature-rich all-in-one audio system with decent sound, the SHARP Tokyo DAB+ is definitely worth a look. RRP £99
