Cardo PACKTALK PRO 5

Is there anything quite as cool as seeing group of motorcyclists passing by on the road, though I did always wonder how they could tell each other if some had to stop for petrol or needed a wee. Turns out they can chat easily over a mesh intercom and they don’t come much more up to date than the Cardo PACKTALK PRO. This waterproof gadget takes motorcycle communication to the next level, building on previous models with some seriously useful upgrades for modern riders. It comes in a sleek and discrete black-on-black design, it looks great on just about any helmet. The magnetic “Air Mount” system makes it super easy to attach and remove—no fiddling around required. It has an IP67 rating, meaning it can handle rain, dust, and whatever else the road throws at you, even when you can’t.

The come with built in 45mm JBL speakers that pack a punch and deliver clear, powerful sound even at high speeds. The advanced noise-cancellation helps cut down wind and road noise, so your audio and conversations come through without distraction. This second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) can connect up to 15 riders seamlessly. People can join or leave the group (for petrol or a wee) without messing up the whole system. It supports Bluetooth 5.2, so it pairs easily with your phone, GPS, and other devices and offers up to 13 hours of battery life, it’ll probably last longer than your butt cheeks.

One important feature we loved is the automatic crash detection system, which uses built-in sensors to detect a serious impact. If that happens, it can send an alert with your location to a pre-set emergency contact, especially essential for solo riders. That said, it’s worth checking Cardo’s website to confirm if this feature works in your region (it’s available in most of Europe, North, Central & South America, Asia, and Australia). Another smart touch is the auto on/off function, which uses motion sensors to save battery by turning the device on only when you’re wearing your helmet, so its one less thing to remember.

The voice commands make hands-free operation a breeze, though it might take a little practice to get used to them. The volume wheel is glove-friendly, but some buttons can be a bit tricky to find without looking. Connecting it to the Cardo Connect app unlocks extra features, customisation options, and firmware updates.

Overall, the PACKTALK PRO is a top-tier motorcycle comms system with fantastic audio, rock-solid connectivity, and thoughtful safety features. It’s on the pricier side, but if you want a high-quality, reliable setup for your rides, it’s definitely worth the investment.RRP £405 currently reduced to £364.48
