The SpyraDash proved you don’t need batteries to dominate a water fight. The SpyraFour, meanwhile, looks at its smaller sibling, nods approvingly, then turns the chaos up to 11. Bigger and smarter, it’s unapologetically designed for those who take soaking friends and family very seriously.
While both blasters use Spyra’s clever SingleShot Technology, the SpyraFour swaps manual pumping for a rechargeable USB C powered electric system. Each press of the trigger fires a powerful burst of water with a range of up to 15 metres, giving it a significant advantage over both traditional water pistols and the more modestly ranged Dash. Accuracy is reliable, making every shot feel deliberate rather than hopeful.
A hefty 900ml reservoir provides up to 28 shots before refilling. Fortunately, reloading is refreshingly quick. Dip the nozzle into a bucket, paddling pool or tap, press the reload button and the integrated pump refills the tank in around 12 seconds. One battery charge is rated for more than 2,500 shots, so you’ll almost certainly run out of opponents before running out of power.
It doesn’t stop there, Spyra has equipped the Four with five Blast Modes including Open, Burst, Storm, Power and Rage, plus three Game Modes that introduce different ways to play. A bright 2 inch Infinity Dome display clearly shows your selected mode, battery level and remaining ammunition, adding an unexpectedly video game like feel to every battle.
At 2.2kg when full, it asks a little more of your arms than the Dash, and its premium price firmly places it in enthusiast territory. Charging also takes around four to four and a half hours, so a little forward planning is required before the next family showdown. The game modes are also a lot more fun when you have more than on Four to play with.
With increased fire power comes increased responsibly which means this blaster isn’t suitable for anyone under 14. The SpyraFour is a serious upgrade that is seriously entertaining, its less about having a casual water fight and more about living acting out your favourite action movie scene or video game.
