An audiophile’s quest for perfect sound is never ending and to say there is an abundance of choice out there is an under-statement! In fact, there never will be a single amp that’s going to suit everybody, life would be far too boring then. But, good quality will always stand out and so we come to Fosi Audio’s latest amp offering which uses their previous V3 amp as a starting point. The first thing to note is that this amp provides both stereo and mono modes, the first time Fosi Audio have provided this option on any of their models. The stereo mode pumps out at 180W’s while the mono mode brings it up to a max of 235W’s. Of course, if you bought two of these amps, you could link them both up, giving you 2 mono outputs with up to 235W’s, nice!
The design of the amp has been optimised to cut out ambient sound wherever it can, ranging from the heat dissipation design (larger chassis, dust covers, vents moved to the side as well as a heat sink built in to the middle) to an audio signal input connector that supports both XLR and ¼” TRS plugs so less clutter inside and less chance of vibration disturbing your listening experience.
The 12V trigger-in connector is designed to allow for smoother connection between your devices and the amp is equipped with the TPA3255 Class D amp chip. The rest of the amp combines Japanese Sumida conductors, NCC filter capacitors and ELNA audio Coupling Capacitors as well as German WIMA capacitors to achieve its aim. The SINAD rating is up to 89dB’s and the SNR is 106dB’s giving the amp a nice low distortion factor. Once you plug this in, you can hit decent volumes without losing out – which is kind of the point!
