On to one of my favourite innovations in tech – bone-conducting headphones! Not only is the sound usually much better than traditional headphones, the fact that you can keep your situational awareness while using them and be able to hear external noises is priceless, especially for those that can’t afford to shut themselves off in their own little world. So, what does this latest set from Nank have to offer?
For starters, they are IP66 rated waterproof so are good for those heavy downpours you may encounter, especially at this time of year. It also means sweat isn’t going to cause a problem for those of us exercising indoors or in hotter weather. They come with Vibrator 3.0 technology which amounts to better sound quality through increasing the vibration going through your cheek bone and this software also helps with the spatial and rhythmic sound quality. The outer material is silicon and the neck band is wrapped around a titanium core for added strength, making these headphones pretty durable and long-lasting. The whole thing only weighs about 35 grams so a little heavier than some others in the market but still pretty much negligible when you’re wearing them out and about.
They connect via Bluetooth 5.2 to both Android and iOS and charge wirelessly while the battery life is good for about 10 hours if you have the volume on a fairly mid-range level (about 60%). It takes about 2 hours to fully recharge them so easily done when you get home if you’re using them all day while at work for example. All 3 control buttons are on the right hand-side and involve volume up/down and play/pause. One thing to be wary of however is that the volume up button is also the power button. Bit of an odd choice that and can lead to some unintentional switching off now and then! RRP £102.30
