With the relaxing of some of the restrictions we can now gather in the park, on the beach and in our gardens with loved ones, it is time clean out the BBQ, dust off the garden chairs and update your Spotify playlist. When you have all talked the subject of lockdown, vaccines and WFH to death and it is time to chill out to some tunes the MusicMan LED SoundBlaster BT-X56 from Technaxx is there to get the party started. This rather hefty speaker is portable thanks to the Bluetooth connectivity and rechargeable battery, however at 1.74kg and (L)28.3 x (W)12.3 x (H)12.6cm its not something you will choose to take out on a long walk, it is best suited for car camping, the back garden and daytrips out with the car. This speaker connects effortlessly over Bluetooth V4.2, two units can be connected together for a stereo style system, the built-in microphone lets you take calls and control your music via the voice assistant on your phone. If you are working with an older system, you can always use the Aux port to plug devices directly into the speaker and the built in FM radio lets you enjoy your favourite stations without draining your phones battery.

There is also a USB port that will support up to 32GB of memory, so you can create your own playlists that simply plug in and play. The rechargeable 3.7V 3600mAh lithium ion battery takes a rather lengthy 4 hours to receive a full charge and will last about 4hours at 50% volume and just 3hours with 100% volume, making it a rather short party. The sound quality is more impressive than the battery life, with a good chunky base and clear high tones even at top volume, the mid tones can become a little lost, but it is forgivable as the sound stage is certainly well suited for the party atmosphere. That brings us to our favourite feature, perhaps not for everyone but the RGB lights on the sides flash and change colour along with the beat of the music great for adding a disco effect when the lights go down. This meaty speaker is perfect for BBQs and indoor discos, the short battery life means it’s better remaining closer to home whilst the LED lights and good quality audio ensures an enjoyable party.
