Tentsile Una Tree Tent
Camping and Outdoors April 4, 2025

We are always excited to see different ways of enjoying the night in the great outdoors, especially if it means getting off the lumpy ground and keeping the bugs away. The Tentsile Una Tree Tent is a one-person, lightweight tree tent designed for minimalists, adventurers, and anyone who wants to escape the usual tent-on-the-ground setup.
The Una comes with quite a lot of different bits that can be off putting for those used to simple set up and pop-up tents. To start with you will need to find three well-spaced trees. You’ll need to attach the three ratchet straps at equal tension and heights to keep it stable. It can be fiddly and a bit of a learning curve at first, but once you get the hang of it, it takes around 10-15 minutes to get everything tight and level. The built-in insect mesh and removable rainfly are nice touches, giving you protection without feeling too enclosed. The rainfly can be pegged into the ground giving you a larger dry living space. There are handy mesh pockets on each side and a fold-away door for when the weather is good, and the bugs are sparse.
As the sleeping surface is held tight and with the addition of the sleeping pad it provides a comfortable space for both bag and side sleeps, however it might be a bit too soft for tummy sleepers. It also provides a good amount of width for turning over, but some might not like how confined it is above the body, especially if you compared it to a regular tent. Weighing around 6 lbs (2.7 kg), it’s not ultralight, but it’s still reasonable for backpacking. The materials feel sturdy, and it can support up to 265 lbs (120 kg) and up to 6’ 2” in height so it’s not flimsy. However, finding trees can be tricky in some areas, limiting where you can set up. The good news is those trees don’t need to be in a perfect equilateral triangle to work (any acute triangle can be used by altering the lengths of straps) and Tentsile do have an App to help you figure out particularly tricky tree configurations.
The Una is a fun, unique way to camp, especially if you love the idea of sleeping above ground. It’s great for summer adventures, keeps you away from bugs, and feels like a floating nest in the woods. That said, it’s not for everyone especially those who want instant setup or prefer a firm, roomier sleeping environment.
