Most wellness wearables will have a way of letting you know when you are stressed, tired or running on fumes. The ZenoWell Luna Plus takes a different approach, using transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation, or taVNS, to build short reset sessions into your day to try and prevent you getting to that point in the first place.
The setup is fairly simple, a small earpiece sits in the left ear and delivers gentle electrical stimulation, with the intensity adjusted until you feel a comfortable tingling sensation similar to a tens machine. There is an extra step, as the contact points need to be moistened with gel or water before each session. It is hardly complicated, but it is not quite as effortless as putting on a watch.
There are four modes can be selected directly from the controller, Sleep, Relax, Relief and Meditation, while connecting to the Zeno app adds Focus and Digest routines. Sessions have been designed to slot into everyday life, whether that means winding down before bed or pausing before a period of focused work. The Luna Plus can also be used without the app for its core modes, which is welcome if you want to be able to leave your phone out of the equation.
The app however is where the Plus earns its name, it keeps a history of sessions, offers daily check ins and includes an AI Coach that can suggest routines based on your habits and connected health data. Compatible wearables can feed in information such as heart rate, HRV and sleep, while ZenoWell’s own Zenoband Mobi adds more detailed tracking if purchased separately.
The Luna Plus is an interesting piece of wellness technology, particularly for anyone who enjoys tracking patterns rather than simply collecting another daily score. Its appeal ultimately depends on whether regular guided sessions become part of your routine, and wellness claims around taVNS should be viewed separately from medical treatment or advice. RRP £340
