There is a number code that you can enter on the lock itself if you don’t have your phone for whatever reason, you can ‘give’ digital keys to friends and family and even make those keys one-use so they don’t get abused. If the battery on the lock itself runs out (and you get notifications when the battery is running low) there is a ‘jump-start’ option. Just press a 9-volt battery to it and open it using your app or the number code mentioned above.

As far as security is concerned, the Touch Smart Lock has been given the highest achievable European certification and has the same level of security normally given to banks due to its advanced encryption technology.
