Before I was pregnant, I’d only heard of a Sodastream as something that everyone had in the 80s, however whilst pregnant I found that one of the few things that didn’t make me nauseous was fizzy water (sparkling water if you’re fancy). It was then I entered my Sodastream era and for once I’m in fashion, there has been a huge shift towards sustainability and attempts to step away from single use plastics has made the Sodastream increasingly popular again.
The SodaStream ART is their latest machine that features a slim silhouette, tastefully designed with stainless-steel trim and a unique lever, it is available in a black or white finish although we would have liked to see some other colour options. The Art also features the new Quick Connect technology for fast and easy CO2 cylinder insertion, which is as simple to install as it sounds, you don’t even have to screw it in like the previous model. The SodaStream CO2 cylinders are totally safe to have in your home, they feature a safety valve that will harmlessly release the CO2 in the unlikely event that the pressure rises above threshold levels. Just make sure to always store your CO2 cylinder in a cool and dry environment, away from direct sunlight, each cylinder will produce about 60L.
The Art is completely cord free, no electricity needed, its comes with a 1L BPA free, dishwasher safe bottle, although its worth noting these plastic bottles come with a 3year life span due to the constant pressure its subjected to. The Snap & Lock technology makes it fool proof to use, simply insert the bottle, push it back towards the machine and its ready to go. Then its just a matter of pulling the handle to add the fizz, the more pulls the fizzier it gets, I find 3-4 is good for me but I do prefer things on the fizzier side. My model has a push button at the top, but I appreciate the handle on the Art, it makes it more user friendly for people who struggle with the dexterity or mobility.
There are plenty of mixers available and as Pepsi owns Sodastream now that includes means Pepsi, 7up and Lipton Ice Tea mixers which can be used to make 9L of the drink, there are also cocktail mixers and lots of other fruity options. Personally love the plain and simple fizzy water, if I’m feeling fruity I’ll add some apple juice to make my own, far cheaper version of a brand that rhymes with Appleviser. RRP £139.99
