The SpyderX2 Ultra from Datacolor is a colour calibration tool for display monitors, for the perfect image you need all your displays to be in sync to ensure things look the same all the way from the shutter to printer. Designed for photographers, videographers, digital designers, content creators and HDR content producers/consumers and works with tethered shooting; outdoor shoots, location shooting (photo or video) and studio work.
It works along side the Spyder software which you will need to download and set up then the Spyder device is placed on the screen of your display it will take a series of measurements to build the ICC profile and help you adjust your display’s brightness. The SpyderX2 is lens-based and uses an expanded X2 sensor for enhanced colour/brightness range calibration in today’s HDR/high-brightness monitor market, up to 2000 nits. You can learn more about yours displays colour, brightness, contrast, gamut, tone response and white point, as well as checking screen brightness, colour uniformity, and display colour accuracy.
There is side-by-side calibration with Studio Match for multiple computers/displays, the video and cinema targets offer a more concise user interface (UI) experience, it includes video calibration targets Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020.
The calibration settings are unlimited, they come with industry-standard presets, you can customise settings including gamma curves, white point, and brightness settings. The soft proofing mode lets you simulate other displays and devices on your calibrated screen, for printers, you can see how prints will look for a specific printer model, paper and ink, and upload ICC printer profiles.
Room light monitoring uses the integrated ambient light sensor to measure the light in your room throughout the day ensuring your display is always correct, the software can either warn you to recalibrate or do it automatically. The SpyderX2 Ultra takes the hard work out of display calibration making it quick and easy to get everything in sync and to stay that way, no risk of over saturation or disappointing end results.
