FORTHiQ Knee Massager Smart

Your knees are one part of your body that you probably don’t pay too much attention to until you develop aches, pains and stiffness. The FORTHiQ Knee Massager Smart is aimed at anyone who wants to give those hard-working knees some care without being tied to a plug socket. It wraps around the knee using adjustable straps and combines three different functions in one device, with heat, red light and vibration all available separately or together.

There are three heat levels, reaching 40, 48 and 60 degrees Celsius, along with three vibration settings. The heat comes through quickly only taking around a minute to warm up, while the vibration gives the area a gentle rhythmic massage. The controls sit on the top of the unit, so once it is strapped in place you can adjust the settings without taking it off or using your phone.

The rechargeable 3000mAh battery keeps the massager completely cordless while in use, so you can sit on the sofa, work at a desk or relax in bed without arranging yourself around a cable. Charging is handled through USB C, although you will need USB A to USB C cable rather than USB C at both ends.

The inside is padded and shaped to sit around the kneecap, with Velcro straps holding everything in place comfortably. The fit is fairly adjustable, although people with larger knees may find the straps less generous.

Sessions run for around ten minutes, which makes it easy to use without setting aside a huge amount of time. It is worth remembering that this is a comfort and wellness device rather than a replacement for medical assessment or treatment. It does feel like a soothing treat, the heat coming through is gentle, even at the highest level which might not hit the sweet spot for everyone.

What the FORTHiQ Smart does well is keep everything simple. Heat, vibration and red light are all easy to access, the cordless design makes it convenient, and the whole thing takes very little effort to work into an evening recovery routine. RRP £79
