The Kiwi Ears x B_Media Chorus in Ear Monitor is an interesting budget IEM released this year, that focuses on less on flashy tuning tricks and more on creating an easy, enjoyable listen experience. Designed in collaboration with reviewer B Media, the Chorus aims for a warm and balanced sound that feels relaxed without becoming boring. At around forty pounds, it sits in a fiercely competitive part of the market, so what does it have to offer.
The Chorus uses a single dynamic driver with a Diamond Like Carbon diaphragm, which helps give the earphones a clean, responsive presentation. The bass is the focus here, with a strong sub bass lift that adds weight and depth to modern music. Hip hop, pop and electronic tracks sound full and the bass rarely becomes overwhelming. The midrange is smooth and slightly warm, giving vocals a natural and rich tone, especially with male singers. Treble is deliberately softened, avoiding harshness or piercing peaks, which makes long listening sessions far more comfortable than many brighter budget IEMs.
Physically, the Chorus is compact, the shells are lightweight and comfortable, making them ideal for smaller ears or extended use. The semi open design also helps create a slightly airier sound, although isolation is weaker than fully sealed rivals. Build quality feels premium for the price, thanks to the CNC metal faceplates and detachable cable design.
The biggest weakness is technical performance as detail retrieval and imaging are only average, and the soundstage can feel intimate compared with stronger competitors. Still, for listeners who value warmth, comfort and fatigue free listening over clinical detail, the Chorus delivers excellent value for money. RRP $39.99
