Sometimes when you’re off hiking or adventuring a sleeping bag isn’t always the most practical solution for catching some Z’s. Stony ground, slopes or just nowhere that’s clear enough to set up your tent can all be barriers. So a hammock is a sensible compromise. All you need are some handy trees and away you go, easy sleeping. They can also be used as a quick and easy resting tool when you stop for a break, saving you having to carry about a bulky, weighty chair.

The Cocoon Travel Hammock Double set is a compact and lightweight hammock (coming in at 670g) constructed from 70 Denier Diamond Ripstop Nylon making this a very robust piece of kit. The straps are connected to the material with ‘four needle’ stitches making the chance of a tear or rip very low indeed, giving you a secure and stress-free nights’ sleep. The kit also contains two 12KN aluminium carabiners (can support up to about 1200 Kg – more than enough to handle the maximum weight support of the hammock which rolls in at 180KG: It’s fair to say the fabric would give way before you’re putting any serious stress on the carabiners!) so you can attach either end to your chosen branch/pole/tree of choice. There are multiple adjustment points along the straps and this allows for your optimum setup and enables you to get the correct suspension angle. And, of course, this is a double sized hammock so can easily accommodate two of you.

The hammock packs away in to a small, convenient bag measuring 20cm x 10cm, far less space than a sleeping bag and so is instantly more transportable and practical as long as the weather is clement of course.
