Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller Series 2
Gaming and Computing January 7, 2020

News flash, not all controllers are created equally, I’m not saying this is why my online buddies are consistently kicking my butt on the new Modern Warfare…no wait, that’s exactly what I’m saying.
The Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is an advanced controller with an adjustable lay out to help improve your game play, it comes with a hefty price tag but if this has the potential of improving my kill to death ratio it might just be worth it. This controller comes with a durable carrying case, a set of six thumbsticks- two Standard, two Classic, one Tall and one Wide Dome, a set of four paddles- two medium and 2 mini, a set of two D-pads- Standard and Faceted, thumbstick adjustment tool, charging dock and a USB-C cable for wired charging. The Series 2 features adjustable-tension thumbsticks, shorter hair trigger locks, wrap-around rubberised grip and re-engineered components, it has been designed to meet the needs of competitive gamers and features over 30 new ways to play like a pro, you can enhance your aim with the adjustable-tension thumbsticks, the shorter hair trigger locks let you fire faster.
The wrap around rubberised grip gives you a firm hold, letting you keep on target easier, you can customise the controller with the different paddle shapes and save up to three profiles and one default profile on the controller and switch between them whilst you play thanks to the profile button. In the Xbox Accessories app you can play with exclusive configuration options such as button mapping to voice commands such as “record that” or “take a screenshot” or assign a button to act as a ‘Shift key’ to enable alternative inputs for each of the other buttons. A powerful controller is useless if the battery dies when you are barely eight hours into a decent game session (who needs sunlight…or sleep), thankfully the Series 2 can provide you with up to 40hours playtime and can be charged either inside or outside the carry with either the USB-C cable or the charging dock. The Series 2 also features a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, it is compatible with the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter and all other Xbox controller accessories made by Microsoft, there are Impulse Triggers and rumble motors (motor control can be adjusted in the app) and it has a tactile weight to it of 345g when using four paddles, faceted D-pad and standard thumbsticks. If you are looking for more control over your game play or a higher quality and a more responsive controller, you need not look any further, yes this might have to be both your birthday AND Christmas present (for the next few years if you personalise the design through Xbox Design Lab) but if gaming is your passion you want to ensure you have the best tools for the job.
