Ear plugs have certainly come on a bit haven’t they? I remember when I was a teenager and going on holidays with the family needing those yellow foam things when flying due to my ears hurting when the pressure changed. That was it. Nothing more fancy than just clogging your ears up and hoping for the best! Nowadays you get products like this that actually have thought and care (not to mention more modern tech) put in to them and I, for one, am grateful!

Once inserted, the Loop Experience 2 Plus provides a 17dB overall noise reduction. You can reduce this further by 3 dB if you utilise the additional ring (the Mute) that pops in the plug, basically blocking the acoustic channel so that less sound gets through. To give you an overall idea of what this means in real terms, a busy club/pub is about 105 dB’s and the safe level that experts recommend you subject your ears to on a regular basis is 85 dB’s, the level of a busy city street or restaurant. It achieves this via the acoustic channel I mentioned a moment ago. Quite simply, the amount of space soundwaves can travel down is reduced to a tiny little tube running through the plugs with a separate mesh and membrane, reducing the overall decibels but still allowing clarity to come through. Pretty simple yet quite effective.

Each set comes with 4 different sized silicone ear tips and 3 different sized foam ones, giving you plenty of flexibility with size. You also get a keychain carry case with each set so you can keep them easily accessible, reducing the need to fumble about in your bag or pockets when needed. The look of the plugs themselves is quite discreet once they are in and the Mute comes in two different colours – black or white, depending on how you want to off-set the gold.
