KitchenAid Variable Temperature 1.7L Kettle
Home and Garden February 9, 2024
I love my coffee in the morning and I’m a bit of a traditionalist, making use of a hand-grinder and cafetiere rather than using a coffee machine. Which means, I need to be careful of the temperature of the water. Too hot and you burn the grounds, ending up with bitter coffee. So, you have to wait for the water to cool down from being boiled before adding to avoid this problem. I’ll walk away while waiting and my partner, thinking she’s being helpful, see’s an off kettle and switches it back on because somehow, volcanically hot is the only way to drink any kind of hot beverage…
This kettle does away with all that by the simple (and by simple, I mean “Why the hell hasn’t this been done before!?”) inclusion of a temperature setting. I mean, seriously, why have I not been told about this before? The settings run from 50° to 100°, allowing you to boil the water to the perfect temperature for whatever it is you’re preparing – be it delicate leaf tea, water for instant foods or even getting the right temperature to mix with baby formula powder (70° and then leave to cool after mixing for those wondering). This simple addition to an every day kettle has just suddenly made life so much more straight-forward in this household and the more particular side of me is now a happier bunny!
The kettle has a decent capacity at 1.7 Litres which should be plenty for most uses and the other advantage of having a variable temperature setting is the fact that you’ll be using less energy overall and so can cut down on those bills as well as contributing to reducing your carbon footprint. It looks good too, which is always a bonus and you have a choice of 5 colours so you’ve got a fair chance at matching the décor of your kitchen.RRP £179
