SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder 5

If you have more than one pet chances are feeding time might become a rather complicated affair, our two cats have always been bad at sharing wet food, one of ours will scoff his meal down like he hasn’t eaten for weeks whilst his brother likes to savour every bite like some furry food critic. This would result in greedy guts edging closer to his brother until his head was in the bowl and his poor bro would reluctantly step away.

The Microchip Pet Feeder is ideal for situations like this, the bowl will only open for a pet whose microchip is registered to that bowl, for my situation this would mean I would only need one bowl and register it to Mr. I like to savour my food, without resorting to shutting him in a different room at mealtimes.

The bowl can be registered to up to 32 different pet identities giving you more versatility in who is allowed what food and these microchips will be stored in the memory even when the batteries are removed. Just like the Sealed Pet Bowl the Microchip Pet Feeder is powered via four C cell batteries that will provide about six months of use and a low battery indicator will flash when the batteries need changing.

If pets aren’t microchipped the bowl is compatible with the SureFlap RFID tags (one included) which can be simply attached to the pet’s collar, registering the microchip or tag is a straightforward procedure and the training mode helps your pet get used to the new self-serve system. It took my timid little boy a few goes to get over the initial shock of the lid moving when he approached but he soon got used to it when he realised it meant food was on offer. The length of time it takes for the lid to close can be adjusted via a button on the base, this helps keep out chancers from jumping in before the lid closes, the side guards also ensure another pet cannot squeeze in.

The lid remains closed for unauthorised pets, even when they try to be sneaky, making it a great choice for multi-pet homes, pets on prescription food and weight management, it also ensures the food is kept fresher for longer when the lid is closed, keeping it away from flies. The 400ml bowl is the same as the Sealed Pet Bowl, it is suitable for both wet and dry food, it comes with one bowl, one split bowl and mat, with additional bowls and mats sold separately. It took our cat a little longer to become comfortable with this feeder, I think because the chip reader is above his head when the lid moves it just freaked him out more in the beginning, but when he got the hang of it there was no turning back.
