Godox WL4B

When it comes to videography lighting is everything and no matter how good our phone cameras are these days those harsh little flashes just aren’t flattering on anyone, the WL4B from Godox is a wonderfully compact video light, perfect for those working with minimal gear. Built with a strong Waterproof body it has an IPX8 rating which means it can travel 30meters under water should you want to. It has a built-in 3.8V/1500mAh battery, this will provide about 1 hour and 20 minutes at its highest setting and up to 5 hours and 30 minutes on its lowest setting, it charges via USB C (which is a little fiddley to access) and roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes will give you a full charge. There are three 1/4” thread holes for more options when mounting the light on smartphones as well as cameras, drones and action cams.

There is also an integrated magnet which means the WL4B can be attached to metal surfaces for even more mounting options and for control of the features when it’s out of your hands it can be connected to the Godox Light App via Bluetooth. It is right here on the app where you can play with the brightness, FX settings and various parameter adjustments, there are 5 categories to play with which are divided into 13 modes. The CRI/TLCI ratings are 97, this indicates an accurate rendition of colour, suitable for macro photography, video shooting, microfilm, live, portrait shooting and product shooting. There are two buttons on the lamp body, which can be used to power-on, adjust the brightness and activate the Bluetooth connection, the removeable, rounded silicone soft box spreads the light smoothly with zero hot spots.
