Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L

Unsurprisingly the Travel Backpack 45L from Peak Design is a good-looking bag, it seems that this company is incapable of making anything but beautiful bags, it comes in Black but really looks its best in the Sage Green design.

The exterior measures at 56cm x 33cm x 24cm (22″ x 13″ x 9.5″) when compressed and 56cm x 33cm x 29cm (22″ x 13″ x 11″) when expanded making it carry-on friendly, the inner offers 53.3cm x 33cm x 14cm (21″ x 13″ x 5.5″) compressed and 53.3cm x 33cm x 19cm (21″ x 13″x 7.5″) expanded giving you between 30-45L to play with. As no two trips are the same this versatile bag is compatible with Peak Designs packing tools (available separately) and will fit up to three cubes or one medium and one small, or one large cube (more on the cubes in a bit). The outer shell is constructed from a durable and weatherproof 100% recycled 400D nylon canvas with a tough 900D weatherproof bottom, whilst the inner is PU-coated to prevent rainwater entering the bag. Your gear can be accessed quickly from either the top, side, front or rear entrance points, via waterproof zips with glove friendly zip pulls. There are lots of pockets both inside and out to keep your gear in order, the main compartment can be divided up thanks to the zippered mesh sleeve, the front organisation panel has four mesh pockets for smaller accessories.

The top and side pockets have a soft lining for delicate belongings, there are zip up closure stash pockets and a dedicated laptop pocket, 40.6cm x 28cm x 2.5cm (16″ x 11″ x 1″) and tablet pocket, 24cm x 19cm x 1.5cm (9.5″ x 7.5″ x 0.6″). The ridged side walls and back panel means everything stays were you put it whether you stand the bag up or lay it down. The padded shoulder straps can be stowed away behind the magnetic external pouch, this provides a compact profile when storing the bag in the overhead compartment or sending it through the security scanner. The back pouch can also be folded in for extra padding when carrying it on your back, this also reduces the surface area on your back for a little extra ventilation. There are 360degree grab handles, including a strap to attach the bag to your other luggage, the front and back zips are lockable, there is a protected luggage tag holder and a stowable padded hip belt to help to distribute the weight across your body when travelling longer on foot.
