The sun is out, we are allowed out and running events are beginning to get organised again, there are no more excuses, it is time to get those legs working and fall back in love with running again. So, what better time to treat yourself to some new running shoes, the Sense Ride 4 from Salomon are mixed terrain shoes, with a balanced amount of cushioning, a neutral support and standard fit suitable for everything from beginners doing the odd run all the way through to regular training and competitive running. In the men’s version the shoes come in sizes 6.5 up to 13.5, in four colours Black/Quiet Shade/Ebony, Turkish Sea/Pearl Blue/Night Sky, Trooper/Lunar Rock/Ebony and the Copen Blue/Black/Evening Primrose we received. In the women’s version they run from 3.5 up to 10.5 with half sizes available all the way Pastel Turquoise/Lunar Rock/Slate, Arctic Ice/Kentucky Blue/Lemon Zest, Wine Tasting/Quiet Shade/Ebony and Brick Dust/India Ink/Sirocco, all really attractive designs, making it hard to choose between them.

These shoes are both comfortable and responsive straight out of the box thanks to the Optivibe cushioning foam, this helps to absorb the impact with each step whilst transferring the energy on into the next step. The Sense Ride 4’s uppers provide a reliable foot hold with a snug fit around the heel and a breathable, anti-debris mesh in the toe box. The Contagrip outsole and Profeel film protect your feet from sharp objects along the trail while remaining flexible enough for natural foot movement and providing a stable footing on uneven terrain. This paired with the 4mm lugs help you tackle wet, muddy, rocky and undulating environments with confidence. These runners are light on the feet at 290g, they have a 32mm heel stack and a 24mm forefoot stack height resulting in an 8mm heel drop. The Quicklace system provides an even fit across the top of the foot and the slim laces keep the profile low whilst holding securely against the foots movement. The Salomon Sense Ride 4 are good all-rounders that come in at a reasonable price, giving you both comfort and stability out on the trail. RRP £110
